Adventures in chicken rearing

Before I moved out to the country I never once dreamed that I would actually own chickens.  We decided to take the plunge about two months later.  We bought six 1 month old Buff Orpingtons and the needed supplies from a little old couple up the road that raised chickens as a hobby.

 

 

In a few short weeks they were too big for their container

 

 

 

 

We quickly had to build a pen for them outside.  Luckily one of our neighbors told us that we could repurpose an old rabbit hutch that he was throwing away.  A few adjustments and it became the new outside home for our chickens.
